What is Thai Massage?
Thai Massage, "the practical expression of loving kindness", can be traced through Thailand's history, more than 2000 years to the Ayurvedic teachings of Atreya and the Vasrayana or Diamond Healing lineage of Tibet.
This form of bodywork is usually performed on the floor, on a padded mat, and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement and stretching. No oils or lotions are used in Thai massage. It is known in Thailand as "nuat phaen boran", literally, the ancient-manner massage.
About the massage:
The client and therapist work together: actively participating in the stretches, breath work and body positioning.
There are 4 positions: supine (face up), side-lying, prone (face down) and sitting. Not all positions are used in a session, as each massage differs from person to person.
The client's goal is to relax. The therapist moves the client into different stretches and applies massage simultaneously. The therapist will use his/her hands, forearms, elbows, feet and knees to do massage.
The result is full body relaxation, pain relief, improved flexibility and a deeper connection to your body.
